We made the Top Queer Podcasts list!

I'm so happy to share some wonderful news with you. My 5-part "Examination in Chief" podcast series, done to coincide with the release of three true crime documentaries on OUTtv (discussed in my March 6, 2021 blog), has made the Top Queer Podcasts list! www.yohomo.ca. This is so gratifying. The guests on each podcast were really special people - so accomplished, community minded and dedicated to promoting equality and fairness for everyone.

Many people have remarked about how rare it is for a sitting judge to be so prominent in the media. Believe me I am aware of that, and I am ever mindful of the need to conduct myself with dignity and in a way that reflects positively on the judicial system. I believe strongly that judges are not just adjudicators, but also public educators. That's why I wrote my book "Tug of War: A Judge's Verdict on Separation, Custody and the Bitter Realities of Family Court". That's why I hosted a TV talk show for 3 seasons: familymatterstv.com. And it's why I do interviews and podcasts that might educate, inspire and comfort the public. Judges deal with real people, living real lives, dealing with real issues. And of course, judges are real people too, living in real communities.

I hope, if you take the time to listen to the "Examination in Chief" series, that you will appreciate the frank discussion about the realities confronting the LGBTQ community when they interact with the justice system. And I also hope that Yap Films and OUTtv will produce more episodes of this important series. There are so many other topics we could address - not just dealing with the LGBTQ community, but lots of other people. Let's shed light on as many issues as we can in our layered, complex society. It is only through honest, intelligent, well informed discussion that we can truly understand and empathize with each other.
